The National Great Blacks in Wax Museum in Baltimore, Maryland is definitely one of the most unique attractions in the world. It was created in 1983 to showcase the struggle and achievements of African Americans not only in the United States, but around the world. Over 300,000 people visit it every year.There are a huge number of exhibitions to take in at the museum. It highlights everything from the beginning of civilization to the slavery era. Additionally, you can learn about great politicians, athletes, entertainers and writers. Three guided tours run during the spring and summer months to take the experience one step further. The first is the Renaissance Grand Tour which takes you to a variety of important places in Maryland’s African American history. The Spirit Tour explores Maryland’s religious firsts. The most popular is undoubtedly the Underground Railroad tour. This trip showcases the hardships of slavery and how so many risked their lives to get to freedom. It is truly an empowering experience.
