Natural history in North America

By filling out this short online survey when you find a bumble bee nest, youll be contributing to important research on bumble bees. Anecdotal evidence and preliminary research suggest that bumble bee species are declining throughout the continent but much more research is needed. Bumble bees are important pollinators of agricultural crops and wild buy honey bees plants, but we know little about their natural history in North America. Another good site for bumblebee information is maintained by the Xerces Society. Laura Smith has posted a lot of information about bumblebees at her web site. They will often take over an abandoned field mouse nest for their own.
