Bigger is not always better. Since 1959 when the first scientists spoke of creating small and more powerful devices they were talking about nanotechnology. Think of the size of a needle head which is one millimeter. Pretty small but lets go smaller, think about the size of pollen which is 20 micrometers. A red blood cell is 2.5 micrometers which equals 2,500 nanometers and even smaller is a carbon nanotube which is 2.5 nanometers. These microscopic devices are the key to the world’s technological future on creating machines and computers as small as possible but remain or become more effective than they are today at their larger size.
