Rising electrical costs

In the winter when we are running our furnace and keeping the hot tub hot my power bill will run somewhere in the neighborhood of $200.00 a month. It drops in the summer unless we have really hot days and need to run the air conditioning unit. Unfortunately I can only see those costs going up in a never ending spiral. When I read the earth 4 energy review I discovered that I can build my own electrical generating system for less than a months electric bill. It will not take me completely off reliance on the power company but will reduce my bills considerably.
