A hotel’s main objective is to fill as many rooms as possible. They may get reservations years in advance, or they may get walk-in guests on the same day. Regardless of how the rooms are filled, they want as many rooms as possible to be occupied. Most people make hotel reservations as soon as they have confirmed dates for a trip. This will ensure that you have a room for the night, but it may not guarantee that you get the best rate for the nights that you intend to stay. Last minute hotel bookings may result in cheaper rates, simply because the hotel will want to fill any vacant rooms that they have on that particular night. If they have vacant rooms, they will be more likely to offer deals in order to fill the rooms.
