When a friend of mine had to uproot her garden (so to speak) and move because she had to uproot her entire life, she said that she wished she had planted all her garden in containers. As it turned out, she did take the plants she moved and put them in containers. It was fall and she was hard pressed to know what to do with all the plants she had dug up. What she did do is collect all the big pots and small half barrels she could find (anything with a bottom is a container right!), scrounge, or buy. She arranged them outside her new home, still in their containers, and if they were perennials, she just left them there for the winter. That proofs my point: container flower gardening is cool!
