Growing up, it was difficult for me to understand what my father did for a living.
My mother would often tell me he helped people make decisions. For a while, that answer satisfied me.
When I got older, however, my questions amped up so to speak.
“What kind of decisions does he help people make?” I’d ask.
“Well son, that’s a tough question. Basically, your father represents a large group of insurance companies and meets with elected representatives on their behalf,” my mother said.
“So dad’s a lobbyist?” I smiled
“Exactly!” my mother approvingly smiled back.
Yes, Washington, DC jobs are full of lobbyists. Now I know why it took me a while to understand.
