The teddy bear was officialy 100 years old in 2002. The teddy bear was invented by the United States and Germany.  The Us though claimed the name. The Us president Theodore Roosevelt failed to catch anything on a hunting expedition in Mississippi in 1902. He was presented an already caught bear to shoot by his cohorts but he refused. Clifford Berryman drew a cartoon teddy bear of the event.

Later that month  Brooklyn shop owners Morris and Rose Michtom made a soft bear toy, and they named it  ‘Teddy’s Bear’. They put it in their window with a copy of the cartoon.   America subsequentely went bear mad overnight.  The couple went on to make a killing and set up The Ideal Novelty and Toy Company and President Roosevelt found by accident his new political mascot.

My husband and I love looking at Victorian architecture, and I hear there is a decent amount of it in Melbourne. I have a bracelet that was given to me by my mother-in-law. It’s been in their family for generations and I was definitely moved when she passed it on to me. Ever since I can remember I have loved fairies. Maybe my mom started this obsession for me but whatever the reason, I have always loved fairies. Something about the magic and the delicate features inter wined is so captivating. I saw a wonderful piece the other day of a fairy gently holding a magnificent star. The star seemed really powerful and delicate as well. I would love to get a star tattoo design of this drawing just above my hip. I do not want it too big, just something that you can see the delicate features of both and yet know it is powerful.

My neighbor, Jim, just finished remodeling his house and I am very impressed. He now has hard wood floors and all new furniture. I love the wood he has all through now. The cabinets in the kitchen are very impressive. He even went so far as to have arch windows put in the living room and coved them with arch window blinds to keep with the wood look. When I remodel next year I may steal some of his ideas, not all but some. I prefer carpeting to hard wood floors but that is just a personal preference. His hardwood floors look great.

I can’t stand spam. I don’t even like the food product called spam. What really gets on my nerves is how so much spam can get into my mailbox even if I never put my email address out there.
